To keep up with the tradition of the past few weeks, here is another birthday card I made last week. And a little bit of news while I’m at it: I have only very recently opened an Etsy shop (there are a few Christmas cards on there already and more products to come in the near future) and this card (the polar bear one) actually gave me a few ideas of home crafted cards that I could sell on there. I am also thinking of drawing original illustrations on notebooks. If any of you has any further ideas on what you would like to see in my shop – ideally of things that are not breakable (I have thought of mugs with my original designs on too but I still need to think about the safe transportation issue; but in the meantime you can still get mugs from my Society 6 shop!) – do get in touch!
Yet another design for a birthday card to a friend. Cat lovers be prepared, you might see more of this little fellow in the future!
I am not personally what you could call a ‘pug lover’. They breathe loudly, they drool – although you could argue that most dogs do – and they’re freakin’ ugly (no offence if you own a pug or like them). But one of my flatmates does love them to a point that is close to obsession. And it was his birthday a few days ago… So the theme for his birthday card was quite obvious really. A pug.
I have to admit that although I don’t like them it was a fun card to work on. And after several minutes spent drawing them they become sort of cute. Sort of.
Woof! (that is ‘Enjoy‘ in pug language)
One of my friends has the silly habit of challenging his mates to shove really spicy stuff into their mouth. The hotter the stuff the better and the winner is the one who manages to swallow everything he is presented with…
Personally, not my cup of tea; BUT it did inspire me when that time of the year came again and it was time to make a birthday card for my friend!
Long time no speak! I hope that you have been enjoying the summer and that you managed to get some rest.
The other day I was going through the photos that I have taken during the past few months and I realised that a number of cards I made (and photographed) are not on here yet. So it is about time to put them all in a post.
In chronological order we have:
The Recipe Card
I made this card for one of my friends who turned 30 a few months ago. The concept: an illustrated card with the recipe for a natural/hand-made energy drink inside (because sometimes we all need a little boost).
This year’s Mother’s Day card
A fun, colourful card for my mum. A shame I had a tiny ‘glue situation’ when I pasted the banner (oops!). Fortunately she loved it nonetheless.
The flower card
When it comes to birthdays, flowers are a classic! This one was very easy and fun to make!
The ‘Congratulations on your baby’ card
This card was a first: I had never made a card to congratulate someone on their new baby before. I quite enjoyed drawing and cutting out the cute elements. It was a lovely card!
The Wedding card
Summer is one of the busiest times for weddings. This year was no exception. This card is one of my all-time favourites. I will definitely be making this one again! Maybe try it in different colours too.
The Birthday Card with ribbon
Yes, that’s right. Another birthday card! But I like to innovate and for this one I did things a bit differently. I decided to go for a discreet design outside and to place the illustration inside the card this time. I also added a bit of ribbon to make it look even nicer and to ensure that the flaps would stay shut so that the surprise would only be revealed at the end. Again, I really enjoyed making this card! And I had some very good critiques so I will be using the ribbon trick again!
